Avoid the Automatic Update to Windows 10.
Microsoft has started rolling out Windows 10 updates without your consent. While we do recommend Windows 10, allowing it to happen automatically puts your files and computer performance at risk. A Windows 10 upgrade should only be done once a data backup has been completed. Ballan Computers can assist with a Windows 10 upgrade if you wish to do so.
To turn off the Automatic update, follow these simple steps.
Windows 7
Step One.
Click the start button and type Windows Update
Step 2.
Click on Windows Update, and a screen will load, On the left of this screen, click Change Settings.
Step 3.
Uncheck the box under Recommended Updates.
Windows 8
Step 1.
Select the Start button,
Step 2.
select Settings > Update & security > Windows Update,
Step 3.
Click Advanced options.
Step 4.
Choose "Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them" option from drop-down list.
